"I do not care if we go down in history as barbarians." These words, spoken in the Council of Ministers of the summer of 1941, started the ethnic cleansing on the Eastern Front. The film attempts to comment on this statement.
Laur asks the owners’ association in the building he lives in to fix the elevator for his pregnant girlfriend. Throughout the meeting, we witness an absurd world, which imposes its own rules, outside of all that is humane and logical.
The movie tells the story of Matilda, an old woman that has to fight against a real-estate mogul in order to save her house. Tanase is a ruthless businessman who built his fortune on scamming people and evicting them from their homes. When he wants to kick Matilda out of her house, his luck comes to an end as the seemingly nice old lady manages to defend her property.
1961, en Israel. Mientras, su mujer y su hija serán enviadas a la muerte. El director Paul Schrader ('El placer de los extraños'), firma esta película, adaptación de la novela de Yoram Kaniuk, "El hombre perro" y que se interna en los resbaladizos terrenos de la historia del genocidio nazi a través de una historia llena de humor y de dolor.
