Francis, a forty year old engineer, after a mysterious disgrace he retired to live in a village on Lake Iseo. With still little daughter occupies the former family villa, a magnificent Art Nouveau building on the lake shore. In the big house there is, however, another mysterious person, of which only perceives the echo of the respirator that keeps her alive. But other presences no less disturbing, and certainly more dangerous, they move around the villa. What happened to the man and his family? What secrets hide? Marta will know, childhood friend always in love with him, awaken Francis from the torpor in which he has fallen, and free him from the pain? And most importantly, how many succeed they gravitate around the house to escape the danger that threatens their lives? Breaths tells how the pain can profoundly transform a man crushed by memories, guilt, fears. He also wants to show the extent to which an individual is able to accept the existence paths without being a victim.
Production Design
Inspirado en una novela del norteamericano Stephen Amidon, originalmente ambientada en Connecticut, el film habla de un mundo de una clase pudiente, con mansiones fastuosas y repletas de personal de servicio, dominado por un especulador creador de un fondo que promete un 40 por ciento de interés anual atrayendo y esquilmando a los crédulos inversores. El personaje es un digno "representante de esa criminalidad financiera que, como ocurrió en la crisis de 2008, puede llegar a destruir la economía de naciones enteras o por lo menos a despojar a los ingenuos de todos sus bienes", declaró Virzì.
Set Designer
Right after she moves in with him, Frederico's new girlfriend Francesca sends him back to her former boyfriend's apartment to fetch her something she forgot - but he's surprised to find him lying there - dead. Assuming that Francesca killed him and sent him for cleaning up, he cuts him up in pieces, puts him in a suitcase and tries to get rid of it... but he has a hard time finding a suitably quiet place. Unfortunately there's a witness, who comes back on him. One thing leads to another, and the normally shy and overly fearful Frederico has to rid himself of more and more corpses until this black comedy ends.

David, el director de la agencia de modelos, y Lauren, única modelo superviviente de la fatal noche, están decididos a desenmascarar tan cruel asesino.
