Jeanne es una joven francesa que se encuentra en una pequeña ciudad de Crimea durante la Revolución Rusa. Andreas, un oficial zarista que ha abrazado la causa bolchevique, se enamora de Jeanne. Tras una serie de peripecias ella vuelve a Francia. Poco después llegan por separado Andreas, para organizar a los marineros de Toulon, y Kalibiev, un espía. Después de numerosos problemas, Jeanne y Andreas pueden estar juntos.
