Verano de 1974, cuatro amigos van a pasar un relajante fin de semana de acampada al bosque para hacer senderismo y disfrutar de la naturaleza. Durante el viaje se detienen en una parada de camiones donde tienen una discusión con la gente del lugar. Más tarde recogen a una autoestopista, una decisión que incomoda a alguno de los jóvenes. Y es por culpa de esta chica, que sufre una indisposición, que tienen que pararse un momento en una remota cuneta. Allí son asaltados por un grupo de lugareños que dejan a la mayoría inconscientes.
