Yan Jian, un joven ingeniero informático chino se ofrece como voluntario para ir al norte de África y ayudar a la empresa para la que trabaja a ganar un concurso que le concedería el control de las comunicaciones entre el norte y el sur del continente. Michael es un espía francés cuya misión es ganar el concurso y obtener también el control de los recursos minerales africanos. Para ello contrata al mercenario Lauder y a un antiguo general, Kabbah.
