J.J. Striker, un rudo (y alcohólico) policía de Los Ángeles es el encargado de investigar los horribles crímenes cometidos contra prostitutas por un asesino en serie. El hecho de que Striker esté ya cansado de tanto crimen y corrupción a su alrededor no le impide dedicarse en cuerpo y alma a perseguir a dicho criminal que tras matar a sus víctimas decora su cuerpo con escrituras chinas.
