Tanguy es un joven de 28 años brillante en sus estudios, encantador y seductor, que sigue viviendo en casa de sus padres. Los Guetz viven en plena armonía o, al menos, eso parece, porque realmente su madre, Edith, ya no aguanta a Tanguy, y no se siente nada orgullosa de sí misma por sentir un cierto rechazo hacia la carne de su carne. Afortunadamente, cuando termine su tesis de chino, Tanguy se instalará en Pekín. Por eso Edith cuenta los días y se comporta como una madre amantísima, sonriente por fuera, aunque rota por dentro. Pero el día que Tanguy anuncia que va a retrasar un año más su salida de la casa, Edith explota y, junto a su marido Paul, deciden empezar a hacer la vida imposible a su propio hijo.
