La opera prima de Alejandro Jodorowsky es un cuento bizarro de inocencia corrompida, amor sadomasoquista e inalcanzable paraíso. Basada en la obra homónima de Fernando Arrabal, cuenta la historia de una joven pareja en busca de la ciudad encantada de Tar, donde se encuentra el éxtasis espiritual. Fando es impotente y Lis está paralítica.
