The morals and customs of the "native peoples" of Upper Austria are described by a team of anthropologists from Sub-Saharan Africa in the style of European and American anthropologists in the non-western world. While making the film, they discover new cultural phenomena. Wippersberg turns around the research methodology of Western anthropologists of performing ethnologic studies, and then popularising them by means of a documentary film.

Autumn 1990, a young Austrian goes to a party held by some of his friends and provokes a hideous bloodbath. As a reflection of daily reality and its crass representation of the horror of this extreme crime, Michael Haneke has composed an experimental collage of material gathered from one day of ORF (Austrian TV) broadcasting, using each part in proportion to the time allocated to it in the programme schedule.

Fanny Hobichler, a young promising actress, moves to Vienna in the 1920s in order to pursue her big break. She draws inspiration and seeks help from the popular stage actor Albert Kortz who once started out from the same provincial town as she did and was a close friend of her late father. Kortz, however, dreams of retiring as he is tired of his fame and having to deal with the short-tempered theatre director Jason. Together, they try to outwit Jason.
