En su pequeño pueblo natal de Tirol del Sur, todo el mundo conoce al extraño y sensible Mario, al que le encanta bailar. Aceptado por los demás residentes, pero al mismo tiempo visto críticamente, al menos encuentra un aliado en su padre. Cuando Mario vuelve a encontrarse con su amigo de la infancia Lenz, los sentimientos afloran. Ahora vive como actor en Roma, y Mario decide seguirlo sin más preámbulos. Los dos se encuentran en un bar gay, pero Mario pronto se da cuenta de que Lenz no necesariamente lo estaba esperando. Cuando de repente hombres armados irrumpen en el bar, Lenz es víctima de un intento de asesinato y Mario escapa ileso. Cuando Mario regresa al Tirol del Sur, su vida se va desmoronando gradualmente.

When David visits his family for Christmas, a family encounter of an especially evil kind awaits him. Ironically on Christmas Eve, he realizes that his family has abandoned all sense of brotherly love and liberal values. They are afraid. Afraid of change, afraid that something will be taken away from them. David can’t handle the latent racist talk and shirtfronts his parents. The fact that his father, the very man he has always looked up to, is now spewing right-wing propaganda, shocks him. David cannot simply ignore it.
