Michelle es una atractiva abogada veinteañera, con trabajo en Dublín y ha mantenido una relación Ivan durante tres años. Una noche de fiesta Ivan coquetea abiertamente con otra mujer delante de Michelle, lo que propicia una terrible pelea y la ruptura entre Michelle e Ivan. Huyendo ella de él, Michelle llega a un bar cercano y Conor, el mesero, le sirve a una copa. El bar está casi vacío, sólo Conor, su padre borracho, el viejo Flynn, y algunos clientes habituales están presentes. A pesar de la hora tardía, la lluvia y la angustia, Conor conversa con Michelle.
