Forty years ago, Sério Fernandes was a television advertising director and owner of one of the most successful advertising companies in Portugal. That's when he decides to leave everything to focus on his own movies. Nowadays, Sério Fernandes is known as the master of Oporto’s school.

The film is liberally inspired by the period when Eça de Queiroz was Portuguese Consul in Cuba, when still a Spanish colony. Eça de Queiroz struggles against local authorities in his defense of Chinese workers, brought to the sugar plantations by greedy middlemen and exploited as slaves. Two parallel stories unfold, that of a Chinese girl which Eça de Queiroz saves from the clutches of one of the island’s most powerful slave owners, and the other of a romance involving a young American woman on holidays in Havana.

Santa Claus cree que su reinado está llegando a su fin y que se acerca ya la hora de jubilarse. Confía en que su hijo Steven, que es muy eficiente y responsable, aunque no muy alegre, esté preparado para tomar el relevo inmediatamente. Sin embargo, esa Navidad surge un problema: uno de los 600 millones de niños a los que había que visitar se queda sin su regalo.
