Historia

Born in Beirut, Christopher Aoun studied cinematography at the Université Saint Jospeh de Beyrouth and the University of Television and Film Munich. In 2019 he won the German Cinematography Award, was named as one of '10 Cinematographers to watch' by Variety, a 'Rising Star of Cinematography' by the American Cinematographer magazine and became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science. He shot Nadine Labaki's Academy Award nominated film 'Capernaum' in Beirut, which won the Jury Prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. Prior to that, he photographed Philippe Aractingi's film 'Listen' in Lebanon, the documentary 'Kalveli - Shadows of the Desert' in India, as well as dozens of commercials and music videos worldwide. He recently wrapped production on Anne Zohra Berrached's latest movie 'The Wife of the Pilot', produced by Razor Film and Kaouther Ben Hania's 'The Man who Sold his Skin', starring Monica Bellucci.

Lara, a 24 year old Lebanese artist living in NYC, returns home to Beirut for her father’s funeral. Her elegant strong-willed mother, Rima, pushes for Lara to behave in accordance with the social mores of Beirut and the traditional ways of grieving. Lara, in mourning and in need of her family, yields. Her Jewish Canadian fiancee, Noah, shows up to support her – but is surprised to discover that Lara has never told her family about him.
