A young man, Guy, discovers the woman he's been sleeping with is not only married, but married to Burt Walker, a notorious low-level crime boss. Worried that Walker will at some point discover the affair and kill him, Guy decides to be upfront, tell Walker about his transgression and beg for forgiveness. The ploy works, and the pair form a very unusual, and ultimately dangerous, friendship.

Son las 11:50 de una mañana cualquiera, Larry Taylor (Wasserman) despierta y encuentra a dos desconocidos en su dormitorio, Mr. Jay (Freeman) y Mrs. Milch (Lano), que le dicen que sólo le quedan 10 minutos de vida ya que a las 12 lo van a matar por encargo de alguien. Al mismo tiempo su esposa Becky (Guest) está acostandose con otro hombre en un motel a la vez que son grabados por un par de detectives a sueldo contratados por un mafioso que tiene sus motivos para que el mundo de Larry y Becky se venga abajo.
