Here is the “lower-risk consumption room”, the drug injection room that opened in October 2016 in a building at Lariboisière Hospital in Paris. A place that the film never quits, except for a few seconds out on a stretch of pavement, as the credits open. One or two shots are enough to establish the exterior and remind us of the hostility of some nearby residents – the glimpse of a board tied to a window: “No to the drug injection room”.

On January 31, 1857, the French writer Gustave Flaubert (1821-80) took his place in the dock for contempt of public morality and religion. The accused, the real one, is, through him, Emma Bovary, heroine with a thousand faces and a thousand desires, guilty without doubt of an unforgivable desire to live.

The director decides then to tell about this dizzying time from fragments of experiences interviews, archives and memories asking herself and the people she meets in this journey: Where is Vanya? Where are all these intense emotions, the excitation, the romanticism? Where has this time gone?

Summer 1936 - The Berlin Olympics, organized by the Nazi regime on the eve of World War II, acted as a grand showcase for a Germany that was athletic, peaceful and rejuvenated. The violence and hate that until then had reigned in the streets of Berlin suddenly vanished. Adolf Hitler became the triumphant host of European countries he would soon try to invade or face in a deadly global conflict.

In 1926, Buster Keaton was at the peak of his glory and wealth. By 1933, he had reached rock bottom. How, in the space of a few years, did this uncontested genius of silent films, go from the status of being a widely-worshipped star to an alcoholic and solitary fallen idol? With a spotlight on the 7 years during which his life changed, using extracts of Keaton’s films as magnifying mirrors, the documentary recounts the dramatic life of this creative genius and the Hollywood studios.

In Troumaron, an impoverished area of Port-Louis, the capital of Mauritius island, four youngsters tell us about their fight for their survival: Sadiq, the would-be poet, Eve, who prostituted herself as a child to obtain school materials, Clelio filled with his anger against the world, and Savita, 'the good girl' who wants to escape but finds all avenues are closed. Eve has a plan for her and Savita to get away. But it will go terribly awry, and its tragic consequences will lead them into a spiral of violence.

The simplified black-and-white documentary challenges the viewer to hear the story of the Sahrawi people.
