Una ciudad devastada y peligrosa controlada por 5 bandas: "Sanno Association" y su segunda generacioón de luchadores Sanno Shouten (S), los atractivos demonios blancos conocidos como "White Rascals" (W), la oscura y brutal "Onija High School" (O), los fantasmas de la calle despiadada, los "RUDE BOYS" (R) y la familia de los destructores vengativos de "Daruma Hooligans" (D). Conocidos como S.W.O.R.D. Antes de estas 5 bandas, la legendaria banda de "Mugen" dominaba la ciudad. Mugen y "los hermanos Amamiya" (que no se someten a Mugen) se enfrentaron, poco despues Mugen se disolvió. Ahora la ciudad enfrenta enemigos que quieren hacerse con el control. Ellos son el Grupo Iemura y un grupo misterioso llamado "Mighty Warriors"
Cobra, Yamato and Noboru have been friends since they were kids. Noboru is able to score good grades and enter a university. He provides hope to Cobra and Yamato who seem to be good only at fighting. A tragedy then occurs to Noboru and the other two form the group Sanno Rengokai for him. When Noboru returns, a new incident takes place in S.W.O.R.D area dominated by 5 gangs: Sanno Rengokai, WhiteRascals, Oya Koko, Rude Boys and Daruma Ikka.
Tatsuru Sawada works as an assistant cameramen. He spends his days just wasting away. To change himself, he joins the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers. At the training camp. he causes trouble. He opposes Kazunari Hamura and frequently breaks the rule at the camp. Tatsuru and Kazunari are then sent to the Philippines with Shiho Nomura . Even in the Philippines, Tatsuru and Kazunari do not get along as well. One day, Tatsuru goes to Baguio to take a picture. There, he meets a boy named Noel and his older sister Angela. He worries about the situation in the Philippines. He feels helpless and goes back to Japan. 8 years later, Tatsuru and Kazunari meet again in the Tōhoku region where the great earthquake and tsunami occurred.
A cadre of backup dancers is left astray when their star singer moves on with her life and marriage. They each had their own ambition and hope, which subconsciously rested on the star power of the singer. When plan A does not work, they cling to plan B. When that does not work, in an act of desperation, they are assigned to plan C by their agency. A fight and unprofessionalism seems to put the Backdancers on permanent ice.
