"Friday 8 May 2020 will mark the 75th anniversary of the formal end of the Second World War in Europe. “V-E Day – Forever in their Debt” tells the stories of those who experienced the end of the war in all its many forms. It features a wide range of interviews from children who remember the street parties, to the servicemen who remember not having to buy a single drink that day, then there are the POWs for whom a hot bath was all they wanted after years of captivity. The programme is richly illustrated with archive including a colour film showing the celebrations in London. Other archive films show a grumpy Montgomery taking the surrender of German land forces in northern Germany on May 4."

Based on the book of the same title by best-selling author Henry Buckton, this film is enhanced by a fascinating series of interviews with a wide variety of people who played a vital role in Britain’s ‘finest hour’. Included are the captivating accounts of six fighter pilots who risked their lives day after day to combat the Luftwaffe, which was at that time greatly more experienced in aerial warfare. Their memories are enhanced by the recollections of a gunner, two members of the 400,000-strong ground crew who kept as many aircraft flying as possible, a barrage balloon operator and men who helped to build Spitfires.

But today's processors are a hundred times more powerful than those available in the 1970's and yet, the F-16 has been able to adapt to the new technologies as they come on stream. In fact, the F-16 is so successful that it is envisaged being in service until well into the 21st century. This programme features unique footage of F16 flight tests as well as presenting its combat record, especially during the two wars in Iraq. It finishes with a superb display sequence by a Belgian Air Force F-16.

Using exclusively shot footage, this programme charts the rise and rise of one of the best loved cars ever made. Key models have been specially filmed to bring to life the history of this remarkable car from the earliest Mark 1s through to the last versions that saw a revival of interest in the car in the last years of the 20th century. The programme also illustrates just how adaptable the Mini is from mild tuning to full blown customising including a 4 x 4 version with enormous ballon tyres. This programme includes an interview with Dr Alex Moulton, suspension designer and one of the last surviving members of the small team that created the Mini. We also look at the Mini's remarkable competition heritage both on the track and in rallying. Renowned Mini racer and tuner, Richard Longman whose racing exploits did much to revive interest in the Mini during the late 1970s.
