Una noche, el matrimonio Palmer se dirige a una fiesta en su descapotable. A mitad de camino, Jane le ruega a su marido que vuelvan a casa. De regreso, se cruzan con un vehículo desde el que alguien lanza una maleta que cae en el asiento trasero del coche de los Palmer. La maleta está llena de dinero y los Palmer pretenden quedárselo, pero una serie de circunstancias hará que la suerte del matrimonio dure poco.
