In the early Middle Ages, two Christian knights set off to christen a small pagan village hidden deep in the mountains. Despite the differences in their views and perspectives on religion, the two men become travel companions and create a father-son relationship. As they settle into the local community, their faith, belief system and the bond between them are all put to the test. Soon, love is confronted with hate, dialogue with violence, madness with rules and many will have to die.

Shortly before his death, Marek Edelman (1919-2009), former commander of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising (1943) against the Nazi occupation, wonders about several basic themes of human existence in relation to the Shoah: how was it possible to enjoy love, tenderness, passion and lust while the whole world was crumbling and burning around.

Now the hopes of the family rely on the young boy who should tame and race the wild horse. An intense relation between father, son and their wild horse shows how nature overwhelms and influences human beings. Nobody remains unscathed after being confronted with the powers of the steppe.

Polonia, 1981. En una ciudad costera, Janek, un chico de 18 años, hijo de un capitán de la Marina, monta una banda de punk-rock. Su vida es la música y su primer gran amor Basia, pero las cosas para Janek están a punto de cambiar. El filme es así una especie de alegoría que describe la situación de Europa del Este en este momento tan decisivo de la historia. Según el director y el cámara Piotr Rosolowski, la película intenta contar de nuevo una historia desde el punto de vista de los animales como ya se hizo en su momento con "Goat Walker".
