Principios del siglo 18. El cartógrafo Cartographer Jonathan Green emprende un viaje científico por Europa hacia el este. Luego de pasar por Transilvania y habiendo cruzado los Montes Cárpatos, se encuentra en una pequeña villa perdida en los bosques. Sólo las posibiliades y una pesada niebla podrían haberlo traído a este lugar maldito. La gente que vive en el lugar no se parece a ninguna que el viajante haya visto antes. Los habitantes, habiendo cavado una profunda fosa para defenderse del mundo exterior, comparten la ingenua creencia de que pueden salvarse del mal, sin llegar a entender que el mal ha hecho su nido en sus almas y que espera la oportunidad de esparcirse por el mundo.

Operation Danube was the cover name for the invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact armies in August 1968. The fleet of Polish tanks which arrive to liberate their neighbor, ostensibly threatened by a counter-revolution, includes the old tank nicknamed Ladybird, which is the last to leave the barracks.
The Toothless Cab Driver
Paxton y Josh, dos jóvenes norteamericanos amigos de la universidad, recorren Europa con sus mochilas junto con Oli, un islandés que conocen en el camino. En Eslovaquia conocen a Natalya y Svetlan, dos exóticas bellezas con las que se distraen.... para aparecer atrapados en un siniestro y lúgubre sitio. Su angustiosa situación, como descubrirán más tarde, es tan profunda como el más oscuro y enfermizo recoveco de la propia naturaleza humana... si sobreviven.
It is 5 May 1945 and the uprising against the hated German occupiers has broken out in Prague. The Czech guards open the gate of the Pankrác prison to allow the prisoners to escape en masse. Many of them are shot dead by the German guards but young Ruda (Jaromír Hanzlík) manages to run away. He is taken care of by one of the Prague fighters, concierge Kytka. Kytka hides him in the flat of the house's owner where only the young maid Karla (Jana Brejchová) is left, ordering her to take care of Ruda.
Jurácek's feature debut is shot in two parts. In the first, a corporal accompanies a new recruit with a sore Achilles tendon for his physical, and all the girls or young women they see are played by the same actress (Ruzickova). In the longer second segment, shot with the help of the Czechoslovakia army, the soldiers pass the time during basic training and maneuvers by talking about girls.
