1876. After five centuries of slavery, the Bulgarians faced a fateful choice - either freedom or death. A handful of young revolutionaries gather in Gyurgevo, on free Romanian soil, and draw up a plan for the liberation of enslaved Bulgaria. Hristo Botev, poet, newspaperman and teacher, throws down his pen and leads two hundred young men to the aid of his rebel brothers.
Atanas Burov (played by Assen Blatechki) is considered as the most influential politician in Bulgaria's history. The movie is about him and his love story with Dilyana Popova as the main female character.
