We follow Jorge through a journey full of omens, where reality and magical thinking blend together, as he discovers that the myth of wealth is built on sacrifices that become ever more tangible – while the boundaries between victims and oppressors get progressively vague and blurred. Mother Lode is a fable about the banality of the descent to hell in times of neoliberalism; it is a paradigm of a relentless world in which everything can be sacrificed in the name of profit.

Cuando llega la hora del almuerzo, el Cementerio de los Reyes en el centro de Ginebra, se llena de residentes que comen o descansan entre las tumbas. Mientras los vivos están vivos, las voces de los muertos florecen. La película los invita a ambos a compartir un soleado mediodía. Mezclando imágenes contemporáneas en Súper-8 del cementerio y archivos de sonido de personalidades enterradas allí, como Jorge Luis Borges, este documental experimental se presenta como una pintura Vanitas: una obra de arte simbólica que muestra la fugacidad de la vida, la inutilidad del placer y la certeza de la muerte.
