Cine sin control en un tradicional bar obrero de una esquina de Hamburgo, entre las nueve de la mañana y las nueve de la noche, durante las últimas elecciones para el Parlamento alemán. Como Helga siempre dice: "Chicos, beban con moderación, pero con frecuencia". Hace 25 años, Helga se hizo cargo del bar Kurze Ecke que compró a su exesposo. El bar de la esquina hace mucho tiempo que dejó de encajar con la imagen pulcra de la zona de Großneumarkt, Hamburgo. Lo mismo se puede decir de su clientela: trabajadores, exmarineros, pensionistas. Hoy es el día de las elecciones generales. Cigarrillos, bebida, debates... Algunos juegan a los dados por detergente en polvo y salchichas. Por fin, es hora de las primeras encuestas a boca de urna, esperemos que por lo menos funcione la televisión. Kurze Ecke es la reminiscencia anticipada de un lugar que sin duda no existirá mucho tiempo más.

¿Se puede transponer el free jazz al cine? Bernd Schoch acompañó al reconocido Schlippenbach Trio en su gira anual de invierno, y también durante los conciertos en el Jazzclub Karlsruhe de 2007 a 2010. Sin embargo, su inusual película no es un mero registro de los conciertos, ni el retrato convencional de una banda. Mientras los tres músicos, Paul Lovens en la batería, Evan Parker en el saxofón y Alexander von Schlippenbach en el piano, crean sus improvisaciones, la cámara se concentra con detenimiento en detalles como las manos, la cabeza, o la intersección entre el instrumento y el cuerpo, allí donde el sonido es creado. Cuatro secuencias musicales separadas por imágenes líricas en blanco y negro del paisaje invernal, acompañadas de la voz over de los músicos que reflexionan o relatan sus experiencias cotidianas. Bob Log III es una one-man-band de Tucson, Arizona -la única banda del mundo sobre la que uno puede literalmente sentarse. Log aparece en el escenario enmascarado por un casco de motocicleta, con un antiguo receptor de teléfono que usa como micrófono incrustado a la burbuja del casco. Toca unos delta slide blues maníacos en su guitarra, mientras canta y golpea el pedal del bombo de la batería, al mismo tiempo que suena insistente la caja de ritmos. SLIDE GUITAR RIDE es una película sobre el rock'n'roll, que sigue a Log mientras recorre el mundo con estas performances frenéticas en patios, lavanderías y grandes salas de conciertos .
