As Yuri re-enters the atmosphere he crashes back to Earth at high speed, passing out before crash landing on a farm in Kazakhstan. After an exhausting flight and testing pilgrimage back to civilisation he makes contact with two farmers; an old lady and her daughter, where he awaits rescue from the officials of the Soviet space programme. Whilst waiting in the lush wheat fields he considers the life that brought him to this point and what awaits him on the other side.
