En un pequeño aeródromo privado, un proyecto secreto esta a punto de ser saboteado. los inventores de REM, un sofisticado minihelicoptero, han descubierto que la maquina esta fuera de control por lo que se disponen a destruirla.
Sin embargo Mas Hayes un joven ingeniero descubre el proyecto y decide secuestrarlo para salvarlo. Lo lleva a su casa y con la colaboración de su amiga Kim descifra la avería consiguiendo que les siga a todas partes. La gente confundía a REM con una nave extraterrestre, provocando el pánico. Desatada su naturaleza dañina, REM puede cometer las peores acciones mientras Max tratara de salvarlo.
