Director de cine italiano, nacido en Frosinone. Perteneció a una familia de talante artístico, su hermano Anton Giulio fue director de teatro, además de uno de los teóricos y escasos representantes de las corrientes futuristas en el cine de vanguardia europeo de los comienzos del cine mudo. Tras un breve paso por el mundo del teatro, Carlo Ludovico se dedicó en exclusiva al cine, donde trabajó como fotógrafo, montador y guionista, antes de dar el salto definitivo a la dirección en pleno período fascista. Su amplia filmografía, más de sesenta películas en treinta años de profesión, cubre todos los géneros, pero es fundamentalmente en la comedia y en el cine de aventuras donde obtiene sus mayores logros. Sus primeras películas de éxito fueron, Bonitas y feas se casan todas (1938) y Loca de alegría (1939). Ese mismo año dirige por primera vez al cómico Totó, con quién volverá a encontrarse posteriormente en lo que es una de las etapas más fructíferas y exitosas de la carrera de Bragaglia. Totó le Mokò, Fígaro quá, Fígaro lá y El fantasma es un vivo son algunas de las colaboraciones más conocidas. En la última etapa de su carrera se dedicó casi en exclusiva al cine histórico de aventuras, lo que en Italia se conoce como peplum, y fue uno de los artífices del espectacular renacimiento que tuvo el género a finales de los años cincuenta y principios de los sesenta. Entre sus películas más logradas de esta época destacan Los amores de Hércules (1960), con la exuberante Jayne Mansfield encabezando el reparto, y Aníbal, que dirigió junto con el americano especialista en films de bajo presupuesto Edgar G. Ulmer, para la que contó con Victor Mature. Abandonó el cine en 1963 y murió en 1998 en la isla de Capri, después de una operación en la cadera.

Before leaving, she robs him of his money and then walks hastily home, but in the meantime her mother has died. She meets a young maestro, who wants her to sing his songs. She seems to begin a happy, though hard, life together with the young maestro who wishes to marry her. The wicked man suddenly reappears and menaces to reveal their old encounter and that she is a thief, but he is later killed. The unfortunate lady is suspected of the crime, but at the end she is cleared of it and she can happily marry her maestro
