La bella y joven Francesca se ha quedado viuda con una hija pequeña. Para pagar las deudas de su marido, ha de vender todos los objetos de valor que posee. Tanto esfuerzo es para poder pagar el piso en el que vive y el colegio de la niña. Sin embargo, dado que sus problemas económicos no acaban ahí, decide rifarse como amante entre los hombres más ricos que la desean.

Two silent movie actors escape from their film. Forced to find a way to survive in the real world, they will only cause troubles to the people they will meet along the way.

In this romantic story, a couple (Michel Serrault and Virna Lisi) who have been married for over forty years are forced to separate, one to each of their two children's families, when they can no longer pay the rent on their longtime apartment. Absence, in this case, refreshes their memory of the love they have shared, and they take to meeting one another furtively in hotel rooms for sex and affection. One summer, as each of their daughters families takes them on separate vacations, they have had enough, and elope, finding contentment as lighthouse keepers off the coast of Sicily.

Armando is the daddy, Cristiano is the adult son. Each of them lives his life in a different way respect the other: Armando is an old play-boy and often he "buys" his women with his money; Cristiano is a shy guy who lives in a community with other guys like him. The movie proceeds showing us, ironically, the differences, the different ways to think, to act, to treat the women between father and son.

Tres episodios: en el primero, una mujer sufre "falofobia" después de haber quedado aislada durante más de setenta días con un sherpa en el Himalaya. En el segundo, un agente de seguro trasladado a provincias teme que su mujer le sea infiel, y la pone a prueba. En el tercero, un criador de caballos tiene problemas con su mejor semental.
