Adrian Ortega is an award-winning narrative and documentary filmmaker.
His first 2 documentaries Bodycrash and Modus Operandi were met with critical acclaim and media coverage from publications such as Junkee, VICE, The Daily Mail U.K., as well as Channel 10 News. His third documentary short They Call Me Spiderman was part of the Official Selection at The St. Kilda Film Festival (2016).
Also in 2016, Adrian created Proud Wing Films, a production company to focus on bringing new stories (both short and feature length) and new voices to Australian cinema.
His debut feature film Cerulean Blue premiered to sold out crowds at the 68th Melbourne International Film Festival (2019) and won the El Rey Award for Excellence in Film Directing at the Barcelona International Film Festival (2019). It’s currently streaming on Stan in Australia and Amazon Prime in the US and UK.
Adrian recently produced two short films, Alba (directed by Senie Priti) and Clown (directed by Aarushi Chowdhury). Alba screened at the St. Kilda Film Festival (2022) and the Melbourne Women in Film Festival (2022), also receiving an Honourable Mention for Most Outstanding Emerging Female Director at the 30th Flickerfest International Short Film Festival (2021). Clown debuted at the first SXSW Sydney (2023).
Adrian’s second feature film Westgate is currently in pre-production and set to film in 2024.
