Following the 2009 financial crash, Waseda University graduate Takeshi lost his job in Tokyo and retreated to his family home in Sendai. Haiji was an elite runner, but has not competed due to a past injury. He then meets fellow elite runner Kakeru who also left running, but caused by a dispute. Their meeting inspires both young men to run again, with Haiji choosing the fabled "Hakone Ekiden" (long distance relay race). The race requires a 10 member team so Haiji and Kakeru recruits 8 others (some of whom have never even run before). Teru (Yuya Endo) has been brought up in a hill town and spent his childhood conquering the slopes on his bicycle. El DenLiner ha sido robado por unos imagins y su líder, Gaou, quien pretende encontrar la Linea de Dios para poder controlar el tiempo y para ello necesitará del Tren de Dios. En ese momento Yuto aparece y les dice que es debido a que el joven ha perdido la memoria con respecto a Momotaros y compañía.
