En el frío invierno de 1918, Tomás, un joven que se dedica a la fotografía "post mortem", termina en un pequeño pueblo húngaro. Los extraños ruidos nocturnos, la hostilidad de las gentes, las muertes misteriosas y las figuras sombrías que aparecen en sus fotografías lo impulsan a largarse cuanto antes. Pero Tomás regresa a la aldea para investigar las intenciones de los fantasmas y encontrar una manera de librarse de ellos.

Thirty-something, transsexual Mónika is overwhelmed by hopelessness and despair. Since she can't find a connection with the reality anymore, Mónika attempts suicide, but in the last second, she survives due to the Virgin Mary's sudden apparition, and she declares that Mónika will give birth to a baby.
