Historia

Sun Zengtian graduated from the Beijing Broadcasting Academy in 1983 and has been working as a director of photography for China Central Television since then. He has created nearly 100 television programmes and currently the executive director of the China Society of Film and Television Anthropology, the director of the China Documentary Society, a member of the International Documentary Association and a part-time professor at the Beijing Broadcasting Institute.

The Magical Craftmanship of SuZhou

Suzhou is a city where the ancient and the modern co-exist. For more than 2,500 years, the city has passed down a large number of intangible cultural heritages, including lantern painting, nuclear carving, Song brocade, Ming furniture, boat dots, Suzhou embroidery, Xiangshan gang construction, woof silk and jade carving. The film tells the story of the past lives of these nine crafts and the tender stories that occur between the inheritors and their crafts from the perspective of 12 representative inheritors.

The Evenki in Daxinganling is the only tribe in China that breeds reindeer. Liuba is one of the few Evenkis who has left the mountains and forests. She has always been the pride of the family after having been accepted into the Central University for Nationalities to study art. One day, Liuba returned to the mountain forest. At this time the Evenki people were in a transition from nomadic to settled. With the family deer, Liuba felt a little quiet, but in the forest, she already seemed to be Different. Finally, Liuba ran away from home, walked 300 kilometers in 4 days and married an old worker on a forest farm who loved her very much.
The Last Mountain God

The 62-year-old Meng Jinfu is the last shaman of the Orogen ethnic group in China. He and his wife Ding Quiqin live in the deep forest of the Greater Xing'an Mountains all year round and live a primitive life. In the 1950s, the Chinese government helped Orogen people relocate from the forest to settlements. However, Meng Jingfu who had lived in the forest since childhood, eventually returned there with his wife and made a living by hunting. Though his life is difficult, he has been happy since childhood in the forest. But since then area has been deforested and the animal population has decreased, Meng Jinfu has been worried. The resettlement under the mountain has fundamentally changed the customs of the Orogen people.
