Tres generaciones bajo un mismo techo: una forma de convivencia que en el pasado fue muy normal, pero que hoy en día ilustra principalmente hasta qué punto son pobres las relaciones familiares. Okju, su hermano pequeño, Dongju, y su padre, se mudan con el abuelo (al que apenas conocen) al final del año escolar. Después de su divorcio, el padre está en bancarrota, y aunque el apartamento del abuelo es bastante inadecuado, proporciona un refugio temporal a la familia.
