Historia

María Luisa Carballo Cortés, mejor conocida por su nombre artístico "Cuquita" Carballo,' nació en La Habana y desde temprana edad mostró sus cualidades histriónicas actuando en el circo Santos y Artigas. Continuó su carrera artística en películas, teatros, y "cabarets" como Mambú y El Sierra, y apareció frecuentemente en la televisora CMQ, en el conocido programa Cabaret Regalías". Durante la II Guerra Mundial, la exitosa artista fue condecorada por el gobierno estadounidense por su talento y contribución al entretenimiento de las tropas militares en el hospital Biltmore, hoy en día convertido en el afamado hotel de Coral Gables.
