Una amarga postal del pueblo de la pampa bonaerense que el escritor argentino Manuel Puig (1932-90) retrató con singular maestría, basándose en su propia tierra, un pueblo llamado General Villegas. Sus habitantes nunca le perdonaron. Sin embargo, una mujer, poseedora de un pasado doloroso y enigmático, construirá un puente entre Coronel Vallejos, el pueblo creado por Puig, y General Villegas, el pueblo real, tratando de reconciliar el lugar con el escritor.
