Historia
Louis Davids, born Simon David (1883-1939) is widely considered one of the Netherlands biggest names in performing arts. He was active in a great many genres of variety entertainment -- revue, operette, cabaret and folk theatre -- and occasionally appeared on radio and film. Davids stood at the cradle of the careers of Dutch performers like Wim Kan, Corry Vonk and Wim Sonneveld.
Janus Fortuin
Janus Fortuin is a goodhearted piano tuner married to a greedy landlady. Their daughter Polly is engaged to young songwriter George van Reen. When rich uncle Barend from Batavia makes a surprise visit — pretending to be a lodger called 'Van Santen' — the Fortuin family finds their lives turned upside down.
Compilation of cabaret songs and sketches. Louis Davids sings and acts with Sylvain Poons, Fien de la Mar and Heintje Davids, among others. The film includes such numbers as ‘Naar de Artis’, ‘De volkstuinkoningin’, ‘De draaiende Venus’ and ‘Hollands Hollywood’. Every song was subtitled so that audiences could sing along.

In 1930s Amsterdam, greengrocer Bet is involved in illicit affairs with businessman Van Santen. To tighten bonds even further, Bet arranges a marriage between her handsome daughter Jans and the businessman's wacky son Hannes. Jans, however, is in love with tough sailor Ko.
Based on the succesful Dutch stage musical by Herman Bouber.

Back home, they find out things have changed while they were gone; Manus's girl Jans has been unfaithful to him, Toon's father now rejects him on account of his dissolute life and barmaid Auntie Piet has been cooking up a scheme to ruin Dries' relationship with his girl Greet.

Willy Vermeer
Unaware of its contents, kind-hearted captain Beets delivers a package containing smuggled diamonds to Balthazar, the far from honest owner of an Amsterdam dance-hall. To double his profit, Balthazar shoots the innocent captain in cold blood and makes it appear as if Beets has committed suicide. The captain's daughter Eva and her sweetheart, young author Willy Vermeer, see through Balthazar's plans and will not rest until the criminal is punished for his deed.
Jan Duif
When self-made businessman Pancras Duif decides to marry his much younger housekeeper, his entire family protests; eager to protect the family capital, sons Henk, Jan and Toon enlist a psychiatrist for help. The film is considered lost.
The devil has arrived in Amsterdam, hell-bent on bombarding a poor girl, a wealthy banker and a young painter with great misfortune. This film is presumed lost.
