The Tunisian born hero of the film decides to break with his disorganized yet habit-ridden life in Paris, and sets off to discover his homeland, which he left at 6 years old, and to rekindle the memory of his mother, who died when he was a child.
A young man finds some fifty letters and a notebook forgotten in an old abandoned farm in Vans in Ardèche . Back in Paris, he discovers that it is a love correspondence between a young peasant girl and a captain during the 14-18 war. The film recreates this love story, with images of Paris and old Le Havre in the background.
