Historia

Born in Yogyakarta. Education: Taman Siswa Elementary School. At the age of 15, Atmonadi started his profession as a comedian. First he joined the ketoprak group "Mardi Wardoyo" with his younger brother Johny Gudel. Due to his outstanding talent in the field of churning the belly, Atmonadi has often won comedy championships both as a group and as an individual. In the 1960s, Atmonadi had a plot with the late Bing Slamet and Eddy Sud who were members of the comedy group "S.A.E." Finally, Atmonadi founded the comedy group "Atmonadi Plus" (1975) whose members consisted of Atmonadi, Johny Gudel, Djarot and others. Atmonadi, who was already rusty in the matter of making the audience chuckle, made his first film in Kuntilanak (1961). Then he got small silver roles in films: Si Djimat (1962), Daerah Border (1964), Behind the Glorious Tjahaja (1966), No Sorry for You (1971), Samtidar (1972), Last Tango in Jakarta (1973), Boyfriend (1974), Janur Kuning (1979), and others.

Djoni is a promoter who likes to scam artists by being very persuasive. He is trusted to arrange a performance that is meant as a fundraising gala. Top singers such as Rachmat Kartolo and Titiek Puspa become the stars of the show. Djoni displays his skills, so that even when he cheats, he manages to improvise and arrange the show. They depart for Bandung by borrowing a bus and on the road, there are arguments, jealousy and suspicion amongst the group. The film shows the ups and downs of the life behind the stage. Inspite of everything, the performance is a success.
Kuntilanak
Tuty travels to Bandung to visit her uncle who is a cemetery caretaker. A young man accompanies her to show the way but when they arrive at the graveyard, Tuty lets out such a fearsome laugh that the young man runs away in fear. Tuty’s laugh sounds like a kuntilanak (Indonesian version of banshee). Iskak, who also hears the freakish sound, flees at once. The news about kuntilanak spreads. But it is Tuty who has the last laugh. She snares a new boyfriend, a reporter assigned to cover the news.
Si Djimat
Didi, loves to play marbles, and has a lucky marble that he calls Si Jimat (Lucky Charm). When his father sends him to buy a box of matches, he is tempted to play a game with his friends. Then a “sunatan” procession (children’s circumcision ceremony) passes by. His friends leave the game to follow the procession. Didi also forgets to take Si Jimat and the box of matches. Another boy finds the matches and accidentally starts a big fire. When Si Jimat is found nearby the burnt matches, Didi’s father is furious so Didi runs away from home and goes to the top of a chalk hill. Didi’s parents are frantic and when they can’t get him down from the hill, an Air Force helicopter finally rescues Didi.
