Una bomba ha estallado en la central de Nichiuri TV, símbolo de Osaka. Dentro de las instalaciones, se estaba rodando la final de la Copa Satsuki, de la que se conocería al ganador de Hyakunin Isshu de Japón. La situación es complicada, el edificio se está derrumbando y, en el interior, tan solo quedan el detective juvenil del oeste, Heiji Hattori y su amiga de la infancia, Kazuha Toyama.

The film adapts and expands the Planetarian visual novel by Key. The story is set in a dystopian future where biological and nuclear warfare has left a once prosperous civilization in complete ruin. The film tells the story of an old man travelling around with a mobile planetarium projector to show people the stars.
