En el Bosque de Okoya, Koko es un niño salvaje que ha sido criado como Pokémon por el Pokémon Mítico Zarude. Koko ha crecido sin dudar nunca de que es un Pokémon a pesar de que realmente no puede usar ningún tipo de movimiento. Ash Ketchum y Pikachu conocen a Koko y lo ayudan a proteger el Gran Árbol del científico corrupto Dr. Zed.
