La diversión empieza cuando los hermanos Sam y Max Grimm, heredan La Academia Mortuoria Grimm, propiedad de su excéntrico tío Willard. Desgraciadamente esta repentina racha de buena suerte tiene una pega: antes de tomar posesión de la multimillonaria herencia, los hermanos tienen que graduarse en su propia academia mortuoria. Max y Sam se matriculan y pronto se darán cuenta de que la escuela está dirigida por un par de extravagantes estafadores, uno de ellos el Dr. Truscott, fanático del sexo, se ha enamorado locamente del cadáver de una guapa joven, y Mary, una avariciosa rubia, está empeñada en seducir al Doctor y casarse con él.
