Nika, de poco más de veinte años, deja Ucrania para seguir a su novio Vlad, un soldado recién llegado con base en un campamento militar en Córcega. Nika entonces conoce a Celine, esposa del Comandante Maxime, quien la guiará a través del codificado mundo de los esposos de las mujeres que se quedan. Mientras Vlad se obsesiona con la vida del legionario, Nika y Céline se ven afectadas por la distancia y el sacrificio de lo que esperaban fuera una vida familiar tradicional.
