Such is his discomfort with his living arrangements that he agrees to share the occupancy of another flat: he gets two nights a week, the owner (a sleazy frat-boy yuppie named Brian, soon to be married) and Ellen (a would-be painter seeking relief from her boring marriage) each get their seperate nights in the flat. Things go extremely well until Sam and Brian swap nights without telling Ellen, who attributes the "nice" things that happen around the place to the slob Brian, while berating the responsible Sam for his hedonistic lifestyle.

En Memphis, Tennessee, en el transcurso de una sola noche, el Hotel Arcade, dirigido por un excéntrico empleado nocturno y un despistado botones, recibe la visita de una joven pareja japonesa que viaja en busca de las raíces del rock; una mujer italiana de luto que se tropieza con una parlanchina muchacha que intenta salir de la ciudad; y un cómico trío de ladrones accidentales que buscan un lugar donde esconderse.

A brother and sister, sitting in a coffee bar, bicker mildly about whose idea it was to come to Memphis and which kind of cigarette is fresher. Danny, their waiter, comes by offering refills; after determining they are twins, he guesses which is the evil one. Without a pause, he sits down and offers his theory about Elvis's twin. He drones on. The good twin finally speaks up, giving her own opinion. The waiter is unfazed. After his boss finally calls him back to work, the twins are free to resume their bickering amidst the coffee and cigarettes.

Documental producido y dirigido por Errol Morris que retrata varios residentes excéntricos de la ciudad de Vernon, en Florida. Originalmente titulada "Nub City", esta continuación de "Gates of Heaven" estaba inicialmente centrada en residentes de la ciudad sureña que se automutilaban para conseguir cobrar sumas del seguro de vida. Después de que la vida del propio Morris se viera amenazada por tratar este delicado tema, el director se vió obligado a re-elaborar "Nub City" y convertirla en esta "Vernon, Florida".
