The lives of Rolo, Chino and Boby take different courses since the student movement of the 60’s. Some years later, the friends meet again. Rolo has turned into a guerrilla fighter, Boby into a businessman and Chino into an embittered and solitary man.
Amado
Mexico is in the midst of Revolution when the protagonist returns after studying in Paris to find his native town in Chihuahua occupied by Francisco Villa’s revolutionary forces. He visits his deserted home and remembers people and events from his adolescence that provide glimpses of pre-Revolutionary society under dictatorship: his uncle, the chief of police; his sister’s involvement with a liberal political association; bathing with the girls from a local brothel; a labor strike that ended in a massacre. Returning to the present he discovers that his father has been assassinated and, in the company of his father’s former servant, joins the revolutionary movement.
Carlitos
Se desarrolla en tres cuentos. En el primero, Tú, Silvia, una mujer de 38 años, madre de Nadia y de Carlos, esposa de Carlos, vive infeliz en su matrimonio debido a que no olvida a su viejo amor Octavio, un pintor al que ella despreció antes de casarse y que partió al extranjero. El segundo cuento, Yo, trata la historia de Julián, un joven piloto fumigador que vuelve a la ciudad tras la muerte de su madre, busca a Nadia, su vieja amiga y amante, y pasa la noche con ella. El padre de Julián le confiesa que su madre guardó el dinero que él le enviaba, para que pudiera concluir sus estudios en arquitectura. En el tercer capítulo, Nosotros, Julián se convierte en el amante de la madre de Nadia, Silvia. La pasión entre ambos es tan intensa como agobiante, sobre todo cuando Silvia nota el extraño temperamento de su joven novio.
