Johan Chang

This is an 8mm and 16mm experimental film made during the year of Covid-19 around the time I moved back to Taiwan from Japan. I shot 8mm footage during the state of emergency in Japan and just after moving back to Taiwan. I then spent several months cutting and pasting each 8mm frame onto 16mm film. Sometimes the daily fragments were too sentimental, but the film gave me shelter.

"What did you do when you were my age?" In spring 2019, over the sea the director went to Tokyo from Taiwan, living alone in a small 5J room. It was the year she was welcoming her 30-year-old, and at the end, she encountered a journey of memory, images and sound, and the enthusiasm for personal films.

The global coronavirus infection has deprived filmmakers of the opportunity to screen and present their films. Filmmakers can't help but be stuck in the midst of not knowing when this situation will converge. This is a project in which filmmakers who are presenting their works using 8 mm or 16 mm film alone will randomly connect the works submitted to the project "Movie Film Project to Overcome Covid-19"
