Cuando descubren las intenciones casamenteras de las abuelas, fingen que reanudan la relación, y así darse tiempo a solucionar sus problemas presentes: Pen, para terminar de corregir los borradores de su futuro libro, y Jason, para recuperarse de una ruptura sentimental. Durante el período de simulación, Pen y Jason van desgranando las causas del final de su romance, ajenos a que esta oportunidad de volver a conocerse forma parte del plan trazado por Dot y Josie, las abuelas.
