Akari y Yona son dos chicas con un concepto del amor muy opuesto. Yuna es soñadora y romántica, mientras que Akari tiene los pies en la tierra. Aún así se hacen muy amigas, aunque todo cambiará cuando Yuna se enamora de Rio, el hermano de Akari, quien a su vez se enamora de un amigo de la infancia de Yuna, Kazoumi.

Ryo Saeba es un detective privado, un tanto salido pero muy profesional en su trabajo. Hace equipo con Kaori Makumura y juntos forman “City Hunter”. Para poder contratarlo, sólo hay que dejar un mensaje con las letras XYZ en el tablón de anuncios de la estación de Shinjuku y él se pondrá en contacto para resolver el caso. Ryo tiene por costumbre aceptar sólo casos de mujeres bonitas, lo cual le traerá más de un quebradero de cabeza.
