Yann (Guillaume Canet, 'Vidoq') es un cocinero que quiere abrir un restaurante. Pero mientras trabaja en un bar para ir sobreviviendo. Allí conoce a Nadia (Leïla Bekhti, 'Un profeta'), que tiene un hijo y de la que se enamorará. Los tres se unen para formar una familia y comienzan a buscar una casa para vivir juntos. La película se centra en el retrato de ese joven lleno de pasión, un poco arrogante al principio que irá transformándose a lo largo de la película y terminará luchando por su integridad contra toda adversidad.
