Historia
Realizador italiano autor de Pan de chocolate. Director de escena, dirigió ocho películas y numerosas obras teatrales. Nacido en Milán en 1922, se diplomó en Derecho y Ciencias Políticas, obtuvo un gran éxito internacional en 1974 con Pan de chocolate, una evocación tragicómica de la vida de los emigrantes italianos en Suiza, protagonizada por Nino Manfredi. Brusati había comenzado a trabajar como periodista para luego pasar al cine como asistente de director y escenógrafo con importantes cineastas italianos, como Roberto Rosselini, Mario Camerini o Alberto Lattuada. Su primer filme como director fue El patrón soy yo, retrato de una familia burguesa en plena decadencia. Dirigió luego varias películas más, como El desorden, Tenderley u Olvidar Venecia. Su último trabajo como realizador fue El tío indigno, protagonizada en 1989 por Vittorio Gassman.

As a young boy, Tommaso's (Gerard Darier) interest in women and in his cousin Marta (Mariangela Melato) in particular, inspired him to bore peep holes into her wall and vicariously partake of her forbidden private life, including her wedding day. Time goes by, and after living through many changes going on around him, Tommaso has grown up and is now a soldier in the military. When he sees cousin Marta at a train station one day, he jumps off his train, talks to her for awhile, and tries to give her some strength to face the various problems in her life. Both Marta and Tommaso suffer deceptions over the next crucial period -- Marta becomes estranged from her husband, and her daughter is more distant with each passing day.

Pierre (Frank Grimes) is the French boy who saves the British girl Sarah (Carole Andre) from suicide. Despondent over a broken affair, Sarah soon becomes fond of Pierre and agrees to stay with him.
