Encargado de diseñar un centro cultural en una ciudad satélite de Berlín, un arquitecto llama e invita a que participen en el proyecto a sus antiguos compañeros de clase. Su trabajo se ve perturbado por las presiones del poder político.

The King of Malabunt has won another war, after decorating himself and his three wooden marshals, he dismisses his army with a low wages. One of his soldiers protest this and is thrown into jail, but he swears to someday return and take all the wealth of the king.

Mid-1950s Berlin, before the building of the Wall. Uschi, a salesgirl and aspiring fashion model from the East, is attracted to Hans, from the West. But she also loves the bright shop windows in his part of the city. The flashiness of this new world soon evaporates, however, when Hans loses his job.
