Do Thi Hai Yen

Saigon, early 2000s. Photography student Vu has just arrived from Vietnam's backwaters and is immediately attracted to his handsome roommate Thang, who works odd jobs as a bouncer and low-level drug dealer. Entranced by the nocturnal rhythms of Thang's world, Vu follows him around the city where he meets Van, a ballet-cum-exotic dancer and Thang's sometimes-girlfriend.

Set in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, the film tells a story of Mr. Vo and his children. Vo, enraged by his wife’s infidelity, burns down his house and all his memories of the past.

Soon after her wedding, newlywed Duyen's excitement begins to fade as she realizes her young husband is not only naive but overly occupied by his job and doting mother. As her marriage goes unconsummated and her emotional isolation grows, she reaches out to her closest girlfriend, Cam, who secretly desires her, but pushes her into the arms of a dangerous and provocative suitor. The resulting infidelity puts Duyen in a precarious love triangle, challenging her notions of conventional relationships and also the stability of her new family. Director Bui Thac Chuyen's absorbing second feature traces the emotional and psychological landscapes of lust and desire, weaving an atmospheric tale of love and life in modern Hanoi.

Set in a breath-taking primitive landscape in the mountainous provinces of Vietnam, the film tells the story of a Hmong tribe girl named Pao. She was raised by her stepmother, for her real mother left her when she was little. One day, her stepmother dies in an accident, and she begins to track down her birth mother. But her journey turns out to disclose an unsealed sentimental drama of the family in the past.

Versión del film homónimo de Mankiewicz (1958), basada en una novela de Graham Greene. En 1952, Vietnam se levanta contra Francia para conseguir la independencia. En este escenario, un veterano periodista inglés (Michael Caine), un joven americano (Brendan Fraser) y una bella mujer vietnamita forman un exótico triángulo amoroso.

La joven Lien, de 23 años, trabaja en el bar de su hermana mayor y comparte piso con su hermano mayor. Todos ellos se reunirán con la hermana mediana en el aniversario de la muerte de su madre. La complicidad entre las tres hermanas les lleva a compartir fantasías, temores y dudas, pero cada una de ellas guarda un secreto sobre sus sentimientos más íntimos, que terminarán por revelar.
